Temporary switching of the 10th and 1st tees

From Monday 29 June, to allow for easier social distancing with 18 hole games, the club has nominated the 10th tee as the 1st tee and the 1st as the 10th.

When leaving the 18th green, please return to the car park via the pathway around the clubhouse.

Just like old times!

Covid-19 rules

In summary; members and guests, singles, 2-ball or 3-ball games, social golf, 9 or 18 holes, maintain social distancing at all times, no clubhouse access. All tee time MUST be booked to enable contact tracing. BRS will catch up with these changes soon!

Please adhere to the rules that were emailed to members on 22 June. A copy of this email is available here Covid-19 Rules v2

EGGS buggy bridge

The new Eggs Buggy Bridge over the Speedy burn has been completed by Alex the stonemason from Tranent.

Thanks to him for a great job and of course to our anonymous doner in the Eggs.

A hard standing path up to the 3rd tee is now required for the buggies in inclement weather.

Good luck to all who traverse her!

Captains v Vice Captains day

With a preceding couple days of heavy rain putting the event in serious doubt the heavens opened and the sun shone down on Sunday afternoon to allow the Captains v Vice Captains Texas Scramble to take place. A record 56 members took part and amazingly everyone turned up!

The Captain’s team narrowly won the event overall but the nearest the pin at the 1st and the 14th and the best individual team score was won by the Vice Captain’s team – David Marshall, Joe Clark, Yvonne Archibald and Jane Allan.

Just over £200 was raised with a raffle in aid of our Junior club team outfits.

Thanks again for your support in holding this fun social event.

Also a huge thanks to Shirley Andrew and Anna in the kitchen who once again did us proud.

Opening of the Refurbished clubhouse

A fabulous day on Saturday 29 June with a Texas Scramble to celebrate the opening of our refurbished club!

Many thanks to Mrs Beth Boggon who gave a lovely speech and, with Mrs Margaret Dickson, performed the ribbon cutting to formally open our new refurbished clubhouse.

Well done to the Texas Scramble winners Frances Mowatt, Margaret Dickson, David Marshall and Eric Wales with a net 29.55 and to Mike Shakspeare for nearest pin at the 1st. Big thanks to Jimmy Boggon on being the successful bidder of the malt whisky that Mike Shakspeare put up for auction having won it on nearest the pin.

Thank you to all who bought raffle tickets and those who donated prizes, we raised £230 to help buy strips for our juniors who represent Gifford in the league.

Finally, thanks to our catering staff Shirley, Anna and Andy – the food was fab and service excellent!
